Hello!  Well, with it being a rainy day and all, I thought that I would take the time to share a buffet and hutch that I refinished, along with photos of it's new home!!

I found this buffet and hutch at a local store that I frequent, and decided that it was due for a makeover!

Here are some before shots...  I loved the rounded front and detailing around the drawers.  I knew this piece would look great lightened up!

Here we go!!

Well, this piece found it's new home!  I love it when one older piece can fit in with many newer pieces and help to bring a room together.

Armoire Upcycle

I have been so busy recently that I haven't had a chance to post any of my recent projects, so here are a few before and after photos:

China Cabinet

Armoire:

I recently got my hands on a solid oak bedroom set that was certainly looking outdated and drab.  I decided this would be my chance to try out my Miss Mustard Seed milk paint samples that I had recently received.  The armoire pictured is finished in "Typewriter".  I mixed up a small portion of my milk paint and started painting the armoire and realized that I still had tons left to keep going, so I have now painted the dresser and 2 end tables the same.  Pictures of them to follow.

I wanted to lighten this piece up a bit around the doors and drawers, so I decided to go with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint for them.  They are finished in Old Ochre and then clear wax and dark wax over that to give them some definition.

Below are some more before and afters I wanted to share with you!

Here she is!!!  I was so thrilled to get this lovely Vintage Andrew Malcolm dresser and mirror completed yesterday!  My previous blog shows some photos of it in progress as well as what I used to get this look... now here are some finished shots.

Thursday 6 September 2012

Silly me!!  I sometimes get so excited about starting a refinishing project that I forget to take a before shot!  I have recently been working on a vintage Andrew Malcolm dresser with mirror and I decided I wanted to make something that would go nicely in a girls room.  For this project, I went with ASCP Old White and Scandanavian Pink.  I ended up mixing the Old White and Pink together to tone down the pink a little and have started doing a dry brush of Old White over it as well.

Here are some photos.  I will upload the finished piece later today when I am finished!

As you can see, I get a little ahead of myself when working on a project...I already have one piece of hardware sprayed metallic nickel (one of my favs).  This photo was taken after I put a 2nd coat of Old White on the top of the dresser.  I love the hardware on this piece, they look like hearts which is why I decided to make this more for a young girl.  Who knows though, I'm sure there are plenty of women out there that would love this for their rooms too!
